Digital Harmony: Steering Social Media Towards Positive Mental Health and Active Societal Participation
Coordinator – Lycée Roland Garros (France)
Lycée Roland Garros could be summed up in a few figures:
. 60 years old, making it the second secondary school to be established in Réunion.
. 2,100 pupils and 370 staff members, including 220 teachers, making it the largest school in Réunion
. 8 hectares, a boarding house with over 400 places, an athletics track and a sports hall, making it a true
campus in the truest sense (work, sport, catering and accommodation all in one place)
. 20 qualifications offered: CAP (2 trades), Bac Pro (2 trades), Bac Techno (4 streams), Bac général (offering 13 specialisms in the final year), BTS (8 specialisms) and preparatory classes (3 fields), making for a unique educational offering in Réunion.
But this alone would not illustrate the long tradition of excellence and integration that our institution embodies through numerous initiatives which, year after year, aim to foster cultural vibrancy, European openness, scientific excellence, access to ambitious career guidance, and the technological and professional grounding of its courses. Not to mention the loyalty of the local community, beyond Le Tampon, and of the staff who have sustained its appeal for six decades.
This school, with its well-deserved reputation for academic excellence and historical significance, will be further strengthened during this academic year through the drafting of its school development plan by the entire staff, with a vision for 2030. This plan will be ambitious and visionary, just as were those who, in the early 1960s, sought to establish this large and ambitious institution for the south of Réunion—an institution essential to the development of the region.

The district where Kemalpaşa High School is located was known as Nif until the Republican era. Until 1900, it
was a town under the jurisdiction of Saruhan, but in 1900 it was elevated to the status of a district and attached
to İzmir. Since Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stayed in the building—which had previously served as a Military
Recruitment Office—the day before the liberation of İzmir, the name Nif was changed to Kemalpaşa
Consequently, our school’s name was also changed to Kemalpaşa High School.
Our school began teaching as a middle school in the former People’s House building in Kemalpaşa during the 1951–1952 academic year. In the 1969–1970 academic year, the high school section was added, and education continued in the same building with the addition of extra classrooms until 1978. The 16-classroom building constructed by the Ministry of National Education in 1974 was completed in 1978, and the school moved to this building. Due to its proximity to the center of İzmir and its location in an industrial zone, the school experienced a rapid increase in student enrollment; consequently, a new building was constructed and opened in the 1998–1999 academic year. An additional 16-classroom building, funded by the philanthropist Ferzent BULUM and located within the same campus, began serving students in the 2005–2006 academic year. In accordance with the contract for the annex built by the philanthropist, the name of our school was changed to “KEMALPAŞA FERZENT BULUM LİSESİ.”
As part of the restructuring of secondary education, our school was converted into an Anatolian High School starting with the 2013-2014 academic year and adopted the name “KEMALPAŞA FERZENT BULUM ANADOLU LİSESİ”…
